Authentication of identity prior to activation of new account is necessary. Starting June 01, 2007, new accounts in the forum are automatically disabled upon registration. This is to prevent unscrupulous individuals from abusing our site.
The purpose of the activation process is to verify the email address used is 'true', and thus only the member themselves can activate. The Adminstrators and Moderators cannot activate the accounts for you.
